Answer» Hi. I have recently added a new laptop to our household. We have internet service and a router but our daughter with a new laptop is unable to ACCESS the internet because I have our network secured. I can't remember the password to change it. HELP!! Can somebody help me and walk me through the process?? Thank you Can you log into the router and change it there, or is the password to log into the router the same as what you've set up your security for?
Alan <>< How do i log into my router?? Do I use the setup CD?you might have to reset the router and start over. (with the router, I mean) to reset the password.
For the record, HOWEVER, you can usually access the router's configuration pages by POINTING your browser to one of the following:
http://192.168.0.1 http://192.168.1.1 http://192.168.11.1
and some others. Your manual should have the default address. ANOTHER way to FIND out would be use IPCONFIG to determine your gateway address.
Even so doing, however, you would need to old password to create a new one. This is why I suggest simply resetting the router (almost all routers have a small "reset" button on them) which clears their settings. Then you can use your preferred method- likely the "setup CD" to reconfigure the router- this time setting a password you'll remember If the OP has lost various passwords, she needs to bear in mind that if this is a broadband router and she resets it, she will need to re-enter her broadband service username and passwords as well as all the others...
