Solve : Forum issues?

Answer»

Greetings everyone,

Over the last month, Allan has brought up how slow the forum is at loading pages. I've been trying my typical steps I follow when things are slow, and they help temporarily, but things get slow again overtime. Because the server is not stressed, the rest of the site is still always fast, and things get temporarily resolved when repairing the database, I believe it's a database issue.

Over the next few days, I'll be cleaning things up and trying to get things to remain fast. This weekend I'll also be updating the server and also likely converting SMF database tables from MyISAM to InnoDB. I apologize for all the trouble and hope to get this resolved as soon as I can. Unfortunately, since I can't locate an exact cause of the problem, I have to keep trying different fixes until I can get it resolved.

Thank you for your patience,

-NathanThanx for your hard work Nathan...Thank you very much. Thanks. I SPENT the day doing VARIOUS updates, removed several thousand MEMBERS who haven't logged in for years with 0 posts, and updated server. I don't believe this will fix the issue. However, I think moving everything over to InnoDB should fix many things based on everything I've read and learned today. I will be backing up everything and trying that tomorrow night.Thank you for keeping CH ALIVE and running well, Nathan Quote from: 2x3i5x on December 21, 2019, 10:44:03 PM

Thank you for keeping CH alive and running well, Nathan

Thanks 2x3i5x, I'm trying. Success. Everything went smoothly with conversion, and everything seems to be running much faster. The real test will be to see how everything performs over time.

Thanks again everyone for your patience.

-NathanSo far so good. Thanks Nathan. That's good to hear and see. Hopefully things remain fast and maybe after making sure everything is stable I can try a few more things that I've read about that may speed things up even faster. Now you can safely reset my Post count again...
