All memory seems to have gold plated contacts was wondering if this is what they call 24k or is it less and a 3/32" X 3/32" plated contact is worth how much taking into account gold is 1200 dollars an ounce?Good question.
Gold if piratically indisputable. Even when mixed with other metals, it can be separated.
One method is to mixed gold ore with mercury. The mercury will draw out the gold. Then the mix can be heated and the mercury vaporizes leaving pure gold behind. Not recommended, Mercury vapor is dangerous.

How to easily recover goldI've seen people use acid on youtube to get the gold out of contacts and older processor and eprom surfaces. I doubt the gold is greater than 18k. Its probably LESSER than 18k. Years ago i was saving processors, eproms, and other chips with gold surfaces in a 5 gallon bucket. I even wasted my time with a utility knife and tweezers to lift the gold contacts off of PCB's for cards with gold contacts and had them in there. I BROUGHT the heavy bucket of scrap gold to the local recycle and they said they dont deal with scrap gold. They said its considered electronic waste and that it would cost me money to get rid of it. I decided to bring it back home with me thinking I was trying to get ripped off, but looking around even the jewelry stores that advertise they wanted scrap gold werent interested in scrap electronic gold. Friend of mine the one day offered me $50 for it and I sold it to him for $50 warning him that *censored* I'll sell it for $50, and there probably is more than $50 in gold here, but no places to turn it in and make money on this. He insisted that he still wanted it so. I got $50 and he got a bucket of scrap electronic components and contacts. Not sure if he ever turned a profit on it. He was a neighbor who saw it when I was giving him my flywheel pullers for his mower to borrow and he saw it in my shed.In the 1980s I worked for a guy who broke up mainframes for gold scrap. He used an industrial stone crusher to turn the PCBs and the components on them to a coarse powder, and then chemical processes involving strong acid and cyanide (!) These days he would get shut down in a minute by the local authority. It made money because the mainframe owners paid him to take them away and each mainframe had a lot of PCBs. To make money out of scrapping computers you need a lot of scrap material and a plant to process it There are some firms who will buy scrap that has been cleaned and sorted. It is sold by the pound depends on the quality and cleanness.

Masonry and concrete are cleansed with Mercuric acid. So it is easily found is building supply stores.
