Solve : Handheld Computer is First PC with Organic Screen? |
|
Answer» Forget the screen, look at the size of that thing. soon there gonna make phones the size of a ant Are you saying that the ants are getting bigger? Anyway; I can't stand people on their cell-phones. the ones that are proud of being able to send 30 barely coherent messages a second, without realizing that their "talent" has no real practical use. Typing on a full-size keyboard, on the other hand, can be used in a variety of fields, since nowadays a lot of information used by other industries is handled by computer; and people still need to punch a lot of that in. Some people actually have a use for a cell-phone; mainly those that literally need to be available 24/7 (this is applicable to a lot of people, network admins, for example, and a lot of people that work for oil companies), but I don't honestly think that all the people I see with cell-phones actually NEED them, and more to the point, wether it makes their lives any better. Instead of admiring the scenery of the backroad they had to take because of the construction on the highway, people would rather yack to their friend Mabel about how cute the guy she almost hit at the intersection was, or how she was scared the old lady had dented her bumper when she hit her, especially at the speed she was driving. Introduce typing into that mix, and you can see the potential for catastrophe. Not only do they need one hand for holding the phone, but they now need to use the other hand to peck at small membrane buttons and take their eyes off the road to do so; they end up steering with their brake-side leg and jamming the accelerator with the other, weaving in and out of traffic while they message their friend bob about how exciting it was to send the text message to Mabel, without even realizing that they caused a truck carrying nuclear waste to tip over and now the trailer has spilled it's glowing green goo all over the road. of course if they did see it, they would just HAVE to send a text message about it to somebody. bc EVERY time i see u in a post u seem too get madder and madderQuote from: tylerisdabest on January 13, 2009, 08:06:56 PM i agree with you calum i got a freking phantec matrix and its got 2 keypads a numaral and a keybord and it annoys me that the keys are soo tiny because it hurts, soon there gonna make phones the size of a antSo ... why do you have it, again, if you don't like it and it hurts you? At BC - I'm not going to respond to all of that, but I agree about text messages - I can't stand "ppl hu tlk like dis bcos its quikr". It takes them twice the time to encode the message in idiot-ese, then takes the person receiving just as long to decode it. Why not type normally? I could see the point if they were charged by the letter (maybe) but as it stands it's ridiculous. I only shorten my messages like that if I'm one character, or something like that, over the limit for one message - then, I lose those few characters somewhere so I can just send one SMS instead of two. People who talk on the phone whilst driving also scares me. Considering the fact that a DRIVER needs at least one hand for the steering, and the other to either steer, change gear, use indicators/lights etc, and a large amount of concentration on the road, I fail to see how people can use the phone with no hands and no concentration, it doesn't work."hands-free" phones in cars are a bit more understandable, since people talk to passengers a lot while driving. On the other hand- that causes a lot of accidents too. they were actually discussing making it illegal to talk on a cellphone while driving, but I cannot remember if that fell through or not. Quote from: tylerisdabest on January 13, 2009, 08:35:25 PM bc every time i see u in a post u seem too get madder and madder ahh, that's where those shipments of BC dolls went. just post'em back to me, I'll pay the shipping, k?Hands-free phones, I'm still not a fan of but can live with people using them. Here, it's illegal to use a mobile phone whilst driving, but it's not common that people are caught. Hands-free kits are acceptable though.I use MBoard quite frequently...but i wouldn't call it txtspk. That's different, I'd say that's an acceptable shortening, in the same way that I don't want to type Random Access Memory, Graphics Processing Unit, et cetera. The difference between a few contractions and an illegible message is, to me, quite clear.I'm with Calum on this, it's slick and pretty but looks pretty useless as far as functionality IMO. |
