Solve : Hard drive compatibility? |
Answer» I'm ordering a 200gb hard drive that isa ultra ata 100, will i be able to connect this to my computer if i have an IDE CONNECTION?Might NEED an adapter. What kind?YES, it will connect to your motherboard's IDE channel fine. The only issue you will have is whether your BIOS supports 48bit LBA which is a way for your BIOS to detect harddrives larger than 137GB. If you post your system specs, it may give me an idea of whether your computer supports 48bit LBA. Even if your computer doesn't support it, you can always partition the harddrive into sections smaller than 137GB. So you could MAKE a 135GB partition and a 65GB (approximate sizes, as your drive will not be recognized purely as 200GB but more than likely 190GB or so). |
