Answer» LATELY there appears to be many more available applications for downloading videos etc. from the web. I've even read(haven't seen it) where YouTube has a provision to download (certain videos)right from their site? I don't suppose with so many USERS downloading from various sites that there would be much chance of repercussions, but is the act of downloading (for ones own use) any more legal now than it was previously? I ALSO have read that the law varies with the country. Legal to download (but not to provide access to uploads) in Canada?. Neither is legal in the US ?. Would appreciate your input.Copywrite laws have not changed. It is still illegal. It's legal to download, but not to distribute freely as you wish. However, most website's TOS notices state that users are not allowed to download content etc.Thks,kpac. If in fact YouTube has a download feature(again not positive), how can it be illegal to download from there? All discussions that I've been able to find on this subject are quite old. Anyway, seems to me that companies that are providing the means to download videos, etc. should be liable. (Leave stolen money on the street and see how many people don't pick it up) Also have heard that ISP's (don't know how) should control downloads?
