Answer»

Hi guys,

I have a DELL Dimension E521 desktop PC, it has an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual core processor 3600+ 1.90GHz and 1 gig of ram, it has WINDOWS XP Home SP2.
I have wanted to reformat it and re-install Wndows ( I have the Windows XP Home installation CD) but it has no floppy drive and in command prompt it won't let me format C drive. Do you guys have any ideas that could help me reformat and re-innstall?

Thanks alotOk travel here :

When you do a clean install of xp you have to take your floppy drive out anyways so it doesn't matter

What's this about? Thanks Richenstony,

One question, if I follow the guide at http://www.theeldergeek.com/clean_installation_of_windows_xp.htm will it delete the previous installation of Windows or will it make a new copy alongside it?

Thanks It should do a clean copy

to be honest you cant make any major mistakes ...... one of those guides will help you either way... have a good read to see what you want to do ...... but yeah it should install a completely new copy of windows you are promt to format ANYWAY its a very simple task that requires a few clicks and a few keys Thankyou very much for helping me Richenstony, I will do it later tonight after I backup everything.

Once again thankyou A clean install REMOVES all your data and programs and installs XP...
