Solve : hibernating?

Answer»

I have windows xp . and under power options I have ALWAYS on and never never never and also the hibernation square unchecked and my computer is still going into sleep mode at any time. Do I need to check anything under the advanced tab? Or is there anything I can do. ThanksSleep mode is called Standby.... Turn that off.... Hibernation is when the computer powers completely off, and when it turns on, it resumes your activities...

[glb]Flame[/glb]Also check your BIOS, some of them have power settings too.where do I find standby? And where do you find Bios ?ThanksRight-click on your desktop and hit properties... Next, click on the screen saver tab... Next, look for teh power button in that window... Once you click on it, look for standby, and click on the arrow, and select never... Click the ok button, and then hot the other ok button, and you should be all set...

[glb]Flame[/glb]bios options>>del key key on BOOT.....is this a laptop??chose the setup defaults options...in the bios setup...Have you added any hardware..to this system?psu etc...Hey thanks Flame and merlin but I dont quite understand . Can one of you go thur it step by step again. Thanks

Also no this is not a laptop. But tell me about Bios again
I just want the standby mode to quit popping up whenever it wants too.   ok .......on ......re-booting the pc..........hold down...the del key>>>this depends sometime on make/model?

Now   a red/white screen should appear........with options..set-up defaults....F9 key.........if you chose this option.........................it will be as when the makers FIRST booted the pc..have you updated any bios/hardware..graphics card/monitior/ whats the make of this pc??...dell/hp/
After thought check that you ahve not remote access enabled........some joker can alsio cause this problem?/`I have a HP WITH WINDOWS XP. Just tell me the steps for the standby mode to stop it from happening when it wants too. I had windows 2000 and had windows xp put on at Christmas time. ThanksRazzle51.....Ok , I think this is what your looking for .
Go to your desktop and right click in an open area of it and select properties .... a display properties box appears......click the screensaver tab....and then the power button......now click the power schemes tab.........
down at the BOTTOM where it says ...System standby ......set it to NEVER ....... and
System Hibernation.......set it to never. Then click apply and ok ......
I think that should do it for you .....

Let us know
