No what I mean is they get raises from it Waiters and waitresses make less them minimum wage... I think some places they only make $5/hrUmm. They can't make less than minimum wage (before tax). That's why its a minimum. At some PLACE I WENT to it said something like

Yes they can...check the Law.in the U.S maybe... but Canada's Labor laws are fairly clear.In England it's about £5.80ph and under no circumstances can you be paid less than that. No ifs, buts or may be's. Depending on your age of course.

£5.73 per hour for workers AGED 22 years and older Changed to or changing to £5.80 2009.
A development rate of £4.77 per hour for workers aged 18-21 inclusive
£3.53 per hour for all workers under the age of 18, who are no longer of compulsory school age

When I started work 13yrs ago as an apprentice I was paid £55 a week for 2yrs. so that's about $89 - $90 per week. The rate would of been different back then obviously. The minimum wage was a great thing in my book.
