Solve : Hmm, maybe I should keep XP for a while longer...? |
Answer» im doing some MALWARE removal on my buddies Vista laptop. its the first time ive used vista, and im not impressed. the only THING good so far is the cool looking circle by the mouse telling you that the comp is busy. also, that "windows needs permission..." is VERY annoying.Quote "windows needs permission..."Turn User Account Control (UAC) off.I swear I replied to this topic or something along those lines... Anyways I use Vista, and love it! (SP1) I also use XP, its fine as well. Linux... eh, too much configuration and not enough driver support. Mac... well, you all know that already *update* well i fixed my buddies laptop, so its running ALOT faster/smoother. i think vista is now a little more bearable.Unfortunately Homer you're gonna have to install it sooner or later to stay on top of the curve...i fought it off as long as i could. I have no plans to install Vista any time soon. The Windows XP and Server lines are doing me just fine.Yeah, me too. I'll definitely wait a while before going to Vista. For a normal user, vista isn't really that bad. Of course all new OS's are gonna go under the fire by people who have problems with it. But maybe Microsoft should open the BETA to everyone who's willing to help Microsoft that has some knowledge of computer OS workings or whatnot, so even the avg user can tell Microsoft when they have to be like noobs when they can't understand something or find something easily within the OS. But hopefully SP1 of Vista gives improvements. Quote from: Broni on January 25, 2008, 05:48:48 PM Quote"windows needs permission..."Turn User Account Control (UAC) off. Yeah, and go ahead and ALWAYS log in as root if you use linux. Security is overrated anyways. seriously, after you get everything set up, you won't normally need to be admin anyway....MS by the way OPENED up over 40,000 BETA liscenses to testers...all you had to do is pass a quiz on OS basics and sign up. They have SINCE rewarded some of those with free liscenses for Vista Ultimate.Quote from: patio on January 27, 2008, 10:26:37 AM MS by the way opened up over 40,000 BETA liscenses to testers...all you had to do is pass a quiz on OS basics and sign up.Man, I knew I should have done that! Oh well, wait until Windows 7 comes out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7 |
