Do you using your phone for texting? If so, do you know how to type numbers and various symbols when texting? You should be able to find and type such characters when texting. And, those same characters, including the = sign, are available on the keypad that appears on your screen. It really depends on what app you are using for your spreadsheet since each app can present a customized keyboard. For instance, when I look at the Mobile version of MS Excel, the keyboard has a button in the bottom left corner labeled "Sym". When I tap that, I get a different keyboard layout with symbols such as "[emailprotected]= etc... The button in the bottom left is now labeled "ABC", so tapping that takes me back to the qwerty keyboard.Quote from: John1397 on December 15, 2016, 06:35:17 AM

Well, you may be working with .xls Excel files but we still need to know what app on your phone you are using to try to open Excel files. You have not answered that question, from my previous post. You may be correct in thinking you need to convert the older .xls format to the newer .xlsx format, but that is not the core issue in this DISCUSSION.

You should be able to USE the = sign in any app that involves typing characters on your phone. For example, if you open your Texting app and then launch the on-screen keyboard, you should be able to find the = sign, along with many other non-letter characters. Can you do that? If not, then perhaps the basic problem here is a lack of knowledge of using the on-screen keyboard.I went to apkpure downloaded an app title Excel spreadsheet I would assume this is from microsoft. I have found the = sign seems you need to hit the > key to move sideways to next page where there are more characters.Yep, that's right. Kinda like here...if you go to the next page there's plenty of characters...
