Solve : How to Register Windows Xp Home Edition??

Answer»

I just recently installed Windows Xp Home Edition on my computer. When the screen came up and asked register now or later I acsedently PRESSED later. Where on my computer can I go to register it, before the 30 days expire. If you have an answer please email me at [email protected]

ThanxRegistering is completely voluntary; activating is what's required. Just keep looking at the bottom-right of your screen; a bubble telling you to activate will pop up once in awhile. To start it MANUALLY, go to start/all programs/accesories/system tools/activate windows.
Linux never needs to be activated I just went through this for a friend yesterday. It is EASIEST to choose the internet activation. Just be SURE you write down the code you are sent EXACTLY. It is automated, unless you leave something out, then you have to talk to a "service representative." They will want to know WHY you are reinstalling (to prevent pirating....they think XP is so dadburned good that it doesn't need reinstalling....I disagree, but that's another subject   ).

ANYWAY, when I wrote down the code I was sent (email, as I recall....or however I got it....I've only done this once), I left out one 6-number sequence and the automated activation wouldn't work. That is when I had to talk to a person. Point is, double-check your activation code (it's long.....about eight sets of six numbers, plus two ending numbers) before you actually go to the activation page.  It'll SAVE you some problems.

Best...LarryDoesn't Winodws refuse to install without the code, and then save it for activation?

Go LinuxTo activate XP manually, you can use the Start menu shortcut in the System Tools Accessories folder. At the command prompt, type:  oobe/msoobe /a or Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Activate Windows and more explained on wpa here>http://aumha.org/win5/a/wpa.htm
