Answer» Now, it looks like this:
It USED to display number of hits...not anymore, and I don't like it...Just wait TIL Tuesday when Gates launches his allegedly new search engine...Another FAILURE? Huh? Besides my custom logo, nothing different.
What the heck? Now, I don't remember, if I posted my screenshot from my desktop, or laptop. Broni, mine doesn't have the results either like Carbon's. It's likely they're doing one of their tests again with some of their visitors to see how it works best. Just a FYI, Microsoft's rebranded search engine seems to do the same thing for me; not showing total results.I went to www.google.com and I get the same result as Broni. Awful!
If you really despise it, add a .hk to the end. Here is what is happening, I tested out firefox AND also internet explorer (IE8) on my computer and they are not the same. On firefox, you get the new, uninspiring search (the one carbon and broni hates) and in internet explorer, you get the old style with the number of hits next to the results displayed.
See?
Firefox:
IE8: If I GO to http://www.google.com.hk/, number of hits are displayed.IE8 doesn't display number of hits at regular google.com, either.google.ca seems to work on all my machines, with the preferred (old) behaviour.
I'd go to google.com, but it forces me to google.ca

I have proven it did work on my computer, it still does for me and it's from http://www.google.com the original google page as shown in the screenshot I posted earlier.
I think I'm the only person who's posted in this thread that is still getting the good 'ole number of hits with search from the original google in internet explorer 8
I wonder why google decided to change all of a sudden when there was no problem with it's original setup?Turn off Safe Search...How do you do that? What is Safe Search anyway?
