Answer» Hi, I have a Canon iP6700D printer. It is ok, except for the fact that now it's giving me a U041 message: "Ink has run out. REPLACE the ink tank and close the cover." Well I checked the ink, it's fine! there's plenty!
The problem is that the printer won't let me print until I replace the cartridges.
Anyways I'm not buying new cartridges when I don't have to. I want to override this "ink check" feature anyway I can, stop it from checking the ink levels.
How can I do this? So, those cartridges are transparent, right? How much ink do see there?
I don't know how you're going to get AROUND that error message. ACTUALLY, I suspect you're not going to be able to bypass it. But, see whether this may apply to your model printer: http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/inkjet/52198Does this printer have a micro chip on it? Actually you do have alternatives to replacing the cartridges with Canon replacement cartridges. The options include; 1.Taking your current cartridges to a refilling station. 2.If your current cartridges are refillable you can also perform the procedure yourself. 3.If they can be refilled you will need a "chip re-setter" before they can be used again (if there is a micro chip) (the refilling station will also do this before handing them back to you). 4.Generally there are places to buy replacement cartridges that will allow refilling without re setting or will allow refilling with resetting. Options in this area are very printer specific. I have a very reliable trustworthy source that can tell you what options are available for that particular printer. They are a commercial enterprise in the U.S. in the state of Georgia. I have no vested interest in them other than a repeat satisfied customer who feels safe in recommending them to others. If you desire to contact them PM me and i will provide the contact details. truenorthhey
