1.	Solve : I'm trying to set up an AOL dial up connection without their software?
Answer» I followed the directions and it dials up and tries to connect but then it says error 718. REMOTE computer did not respond in a timely manner. Does that mean I set something up wrong or that AOL is just BUSY? It dials up and dials in just fine-it's not giving me a busy signal or anything. I used these directions except I chose to connect using a dial-up modem. Thanks in advance for any advice. How MANY different access #'s have you tried ? ?We only have one here that is local so it's the only one I can try:( Should I just keep trying or what? Have I set it up correctly? I'm just curious why you're trying to connect to them without their software? What operating system do you have on your computer?It's not for me it's for my MIL. Her computer works fine but every time you open AOL EVERYTHING on it slows to a crawl so I THOUGHT if she could connect without their software it might solve the problem . She's running Windows XP in older HP laptop.
