Thanks. I brought up the picture with your advise, and the upper right corner has 8 little icons where the large X used to be.
You got it right;the taskbar(I did'nt know the nomenclature)should be on the bottom.
How can I do this?
FrankMove your mouse cursor to a blank spot on the taskbar. Click and hold the left mouse button and move the mouse cursor down (while still holding in the left mouse button) to the bottom of your screen.
This should move your taskbar back to it's regular position.
You can prevent this from happening again by locking the taskbar.
To do this right click the taskbar and select Lock the TaskbarThose 8 little icons are part of the taskbar. Once you move it back down to the bottom of your screen, the X to close application windows will then be in the upper right corner. Have you moved your taskbar to the bottom yet, as INSTRUCTED by Deerpark?Yes,I did.But it is not all the way off.
I have a duplicate on the bottom of data on the top.
If I persist,can I dislodge it downward?

I have a duplicate on the bottom of data on the top.
A duplicate of Windows taskbar? I believe that's not possible. Can you post another screen print?Soybean

It does'nt seem to respond to my clicksWell, you posted the same image twice. Why?

Your image, as shown, shows no duplication. Can you state exactly what part of the image shows duplication; exactly what element of your image do you think reflects duplication?

Are you talking about the links and web address box shown at the bottom of your screen? Soybean
his image is different from the first one.
The start button is on the bottom.
TThere is no duplication;I was wrong.
The desktop search feature is never used.Do you ever use it,and why?
I would like to remove it from my screen,to have more space.
All in all,I'm content with the change. It seems better, but is it the normal screen?

Yes, the first image, posted in reply #12, and the second image, posted in reply #20 are different. What I meant was each of those replies has two links to the same image. In other words, your TECHNIQUE for posting links images is still not correct, but it works so let's move on.

Most people do not use the search bar, i.e. the Address box, on the Windows taskbar. Here's how to remove it. Right click on a blank part of your taskbar. You'll see a menu with Toolbars at the top. Farther down that menu, you'll see "Lock the Taskbar". Unlock it, then bring up the right-click menu again and point to Toolbars to display a sub-menu. On the sub-menu, un-select Address; I suggest you also un-select Links, since that's also one of the toolbars taking up space on your screen. Now, you may still need to adjust the height of your taskbar by dragging the top of it down so that the taskbar only uses one row. Your current taskbar is using 3 rows of space. When finished with the changes, right click to bring up that menu again and Lock the Taskbar.
Soybean,
Thanks,a bunch.
I've been trying for over a year to get this done.My three Daughters use computers on their jobs, but could not help me.I tried the AOL Help line to no avail, and other Forums on the Web.
I will continue to use this Forum. If I become a pest, just ignore me.
