Solve : Ideal Computer?

Answer»

Hi I`m not only ugly, I`m also a newby and pretty dumb too.

I`ve started out with a refurbished Dell computer Pentium 2.8MHz, 2.79 GHz of Ram (don`t know what any of this means). I now want to upgrade, and would ask what to look for. I need something pretty swift, I have a low boredom thresh-hold waiting for web pages to load. I don`t play games, but surf the web mostly, and only download DVDs.

I use a dongle instead of a landline, does this contribute to the slowness?

Any IDEAS, my budget is about £500.sounds to me that any slowness would either be from a slow connection (the dongle you mentioned, maybe) or perhaps the PC just needs a good clean up. I'd have to say that the former is what I'm leaning towards.

Thanks for that. In your opinion, the spec. I mentioned is adequate for what I want to do, the computer has been `cleaned up`, so it`s probably best to have a landline? Quote from: Uglybloke on December 16, 2009, 02:11:14 PM

if that's the case, it certainly seems like it would be your internet connection and not the computer determining the speed.
