Answer» Hey guy's im back, i moved into my new house, and got my DSL back on... BUT my ISP sent me a nice hi-tech MODEM w/ wireless. It act's as a router also. so i have a 192.186.* IP and my external is my ISP IP.. when i try to run an FTP i can't USE 192* i have to use 4.* ip so others can connect to me right? They can't connect... i DONT know why, i disabled/removed my other firewall, and went to http://192.168.1.1 to configure my router/modem settings, and even disabled that firewall... on my FTP i have tried to use 192 ip for HOST, and even 4.* ip... and i myself can connect (localhost) to my 192 IP... of course.. But noone is able to connect to my computer at all... no firewalls... ports all open. I am in a stump. if somone can give me any suggestions.. ill be happy as *censored* http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/expert/bowman_02april08.mspxmerlin, im not using a wireless, i just mentioned the modem i recived was wireless compatible...what does wipconfig.......or net diag......or netsat...in the cmd prompt come up with........have you manualy configured the ics or vpn.......or did you you 192.168.0.01 for the server subnet mask 255.255 etc........you other pc should display 192.168.0.02 etc......http://192.168.1.1 ?? is this the router ........load the disk first then connect the router...then conect the cat5 cables to the other pcs....then use network neighbour ../my network places ico click then click the home network wizard..follow on screen instructions..ok.. i must of typed my first post a lil tipsy... i have 1 PC. my old modem gave me in IP (when i goto cmd and type ipconfig) 4.61.whatever. Verizon IP... this NEW modem i got act's as a router. and when i do ipconfig it gives me an IP of 192.168 i have no disk for the modem. i would just like to know how i can get people to connect to my FTP with the router onFirst, re-enable your firewall. No need to invite more trouble than you already have. Second, you need a static IP if you are running a server. Both internal and external (LAN and ISP) Third, go into the router setup under port forwarding, FORWARD the necessary ports to your internal address. Fourth, in your firewall, you must grant the server connection priviledges AND server priviledges. Insure that the server is using the same ports as the ones you have forwarded.and what IP would i setup my FTP on > 192.168.1.14 or my 4.61.126.2This is what i dont understanfd... this is my Host routing table: Destination Gateway Interface Metric Rip 4.2.2.5 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.2.2.64 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.10.160.74 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.26.39.198 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.26.150.201 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.4.15 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.6.127 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.7.183 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.10.7 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.11.174 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.27.236 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.73.196 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.79.198 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.88.237 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.90.6 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.91.224 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.92.22 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.92.23 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.95.43 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.128.75 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.128.90 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.130.53 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.132.17 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.132.196 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.133.204 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.135.66 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.135.254 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.142.247 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.151.247 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.152.10 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.153.223 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.161.7 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.163.12 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.167.10 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.169.94 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.174.168 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.176.174 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.176.214 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.179.14 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.182.233 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.183.10 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.183.98 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.183.239 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.185.79 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.186.226 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A 4.27.191.174 4.27.120.1 WanETH0 0 N/A maybe the problem is you are using the modem and the router together or is this router a dlink one......just use the router........(((is this a linskys/netgear one)).....with the adsl netgear i have router.....it does it all... but noted the is configured to wireless......wlan......
