Solve : Increase Download Speed by Disable Vista Auto Tuning on TCP/IP? |

Answer» http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/05/24/increase-multithread-download-speed-by-disable-vista-auto-tuning-on-tcpip/I remember how I got owned bad by one of those "increase your Internet speed!" applications about 10 years ago. I paid $30 for an APP called "Internet Boost" because I was only connecting at 24k when I had a 56k modem. Of course, the Boost app only tweaked a few TCP parameters to MAKE webpages display a little more QUICKLY; I was still only connecting at 24K but I was so happy at the time because there was an APPARENT increase in the speed of webpage downloads. Later on I found the problem was that my dialup modem was connecting to a phone line splitter, hence I had half the 56K speed I was expecting. An upgrade to a cable modem fixed this problem. Here's an article that explains what Auto Tuning is designed to do, and offers some suggestions for troubleshooting your Internet connection before resorting to turning AT off: http://blogs.msdn.com/wndp/archive/2007/07/05/receive-window-auto-tuning-on-vista.aspx Dial-up is a whole DIFFERENT story. Broadband tweaks work.Additionally I don't recall any price on this tweak |
