Answer» I have an aim account (ptownRan-----) and an aol account (ptownRan-----). The aim account came about when aol took over netscape. The problem. I never signed up for ptownRan---- and it's not an official aol account. Someone has hacked into it and using it. The return emails show up in my aim account.
Is ptownRan------ the same as ptownRan------? Can I delete the ptownRa------ without it affecting my aim account? The catch 22 - I can't contact aol because I don't officially have an aol account. If I'm able to delete the aol account, how do I do that. I've tried several different methods and can't connect because I don't have an official account. Many thanks.
Multiple email addy's TEDIOUSLY removed to prevent SPAM...They are essentially the same thing, they use the same mail service it's just that the DOMAIN the email is REGISTERED under is different. You could create a new AOL account to contact them on this. If they are unable to help you, and you are unable to find out how to delete the AOL account, if possible you can try blocking the address the return emails come from. Thanks for your help. So if the domain is different, can I delete the aol account without affecting my aim account? Also, since the aol account's return emails are showing up on my account, do they have ACCESS to my aim account? You're talking about AOL Mail and AIM as though they were the same thing. They are not. AIM means AOL Instant Messenger. So, I don't know why you're even mentioning here, since your issue is email, not IM (Instant Messaging).
