The space bar may have BEN set up a s a shortcut for a 3rd party program currently installed.You never stated what kind of keyboard you have??? if it is one of those keyboards from Apple (the little white one where you have to have a hammer to type) get rid of it. I just changed keyboards, no more little white one from apple and repplaced with a Logitech that works with Mac. GOOD luck
