Solve : laptop not picking up USB device?

Answer»

When I plug a device into any 1 of the 4 USB ports, my laptop is not picking the device up at all.  My laptop is an Acer Aspire 3610 & it's on Windows XP SP2.  I have uninstall the USB Root Hub in Device Manager, downloaded Intel Chipset Driver from the Acer website but it is still not working.

Is there anything else I can do?  Does your USB device work on other computers?yes, it does work on other computersSo..... what is this "device" we're talking about?it's anything that plugs into the usb port, eg webcam, memory stick, mp3 player.  there are 4 usb ports on my laptop but none of them works.  I know what a device is, what I meant is does this happen with any particular device or all devices?hiya, no matter which device i plug into the usb ports, it doesn't work.  cheers. My son works at Geek Squad and he TELLS me all the time about multiple, various ACER failures. Is this machine still under warranty by chance?

Have you checked in the BIOS to ensure that USB is enabled? Did it ever work correctly? If so, what has happened since then? How old is the machine? Quote from: GX1_Man on May 17, 2008, 05:56:21 PM
