Answer» Hi My friends have a COMPAQ Presario CQ61, they were using it on line when it just switched off, if you press the power on button the light just comes on (on the power up button) for literally 1 second & goes straight off. They cant GET on line to try & get answers.. ANY IDEAS ANYONE ..Anything we can try? Taking battery out for 15 mins?Has this happend3ed before? How old is the battery? Does the documentation say it is OK to RUN with no battery? Any sign of overheating? How long has it been from the last time the LAPTOP was dusted? A built up of dust INSIDE over a period of time blocks the fan.
