Put it in the enclosure. Plug the USB cable into any working computer. Search for USB drive enclosure on your FAVORITE search site. Your best bet will be to use an external monitor on the Toshiba. A standard VGA cable will work for that connection. If money is a PROBLEM, check out some pawn shops. I've seen some 15" flat screen monitors for $30. I'm guessing the Toshiba has a faster processor, and probably more RAM, than the Gateway since you describe the Gateway as old. Laptop monitors were just not designed to be USED as external monitors.
