    				| 1. | Solve : Lenovo has wants MSI's gaming notebooks.? |
| Answer» Also reported from other sources. ...there is no such thing as a "high end" MSI product...Period end.I stand by my statement...regardless if Lenovo WANTS to throw money around...or not...Personally I don't think of MSi much differently from other component, PC, or Laptop manufacturers. Like other manufacturers they have "value" oriented systems which don't tend to be lauded for their awesome build quality. Lenovo- who now owns the UBIQUITOUS and generally well-regarded Thinkpad line- also has questionable-quality, value-oriented laptops, one of which I had the misfortune of tinkering with recently- software bloat, poor specifications, and overall poor performance were some of the issues with the system I used, which is no different from the sorts of complaints from MSi's value-oriented systems. Based on some reviews and videos I have seen that cover some of the gaming offerings of MSi, I think they may be a worthy competitor in that domain. In general as with any brand-name the detractors are often the loudest. This goes for laptops, Hard drives, graphics cards, and is hardly specific to computer COMPONENTS, for that matter. Personally stuff marketed for "gaming" always gives me pause. I was recently considering a Lenovo Y50 myself, but the 'edgy' gaming stuff puts me off, but that is just my own preference. Even my mouse- which is marketed as a "gaming" mouse (Logitech G502) made me want to avoid it for that very reason. Coincidentally, last Thursday I ordered a new laptop myself. I was going to mention this in the other thread (Btw, kudos to Geek-9pm for trying to separate this discussion from the other thread!), but my aims were entirely different from the OPs in the other thread so it wouldn't have added much to the discussion. (I basically maxed out a Lenovo T550 Thinkpad on their customization page).I certainly didn't want to come off as one of those blinded brand detractors....my opinion is strictly from personal experience....and many many years...including recently.Quote I certainly didn't want to come off as one of those blinded brand detractors....my opinion is strictly from personal experience....and many many years...including recently. Same here with MSI, although I haven't had to handle a MSI problem in about 7 months now, but the nature of their problems are generally instability problems which when troubleshot swapping out everything leads back to main board having some flaw which causes the hiccup or crash. I have had better luck with Biostar for example where only 1 out of maybe 40 boards had an issue and a quick RMA REPLACEMENT TOOK care of the issue. Sadly I rate MSI just barely above ECS and ASRock above MSI. ECS is the worst I have seen that's out there. Biostar I rate better than ASRock. ASUS and Gigabyte I rate as top of the line, and even the economy ( low cost ) boards and products are good. | |
