Solve : Lost audio?

Answer»

I got a new computer with VISTA installed on it, and had to change to XP Professional so it would be compatible with the company I'm going to work for.  The problem is, while I had audio with the Vista program, the new install (which was done for me by a pro) seems to have lost it.  When I try to get it turned on, I get the message "No audio device installed."  Can you please tell me why this happened and how I can fix it?  Thanks so much for your HELP.  What happened to the "pro" guy?
You may need to install sound card drivers."What happened to the "pro" guy?
You may need to install sound card drivers."

He works for the people that are helping me get set up for the job, and I have to go  through them to get to him.  I start online training Wed, and it takes a while to get him out here to do the work, so I was hoping there might be something I could do myself.    If I do need the sound card drivers, is there a way I can do it, or do I have to wait and hope the guy can get out here before Wed?

Thanks so much for responding to my request.

High Definition 8-channel audio

    * ALC 888S chipset
Since your computer came with Vista, you'll have to experiment a little.

Start with Vista audio DRIVER:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2093&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3548643&lang=en

If that doesn't work...
I'd start on page 2, here:
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOUND-CARD/REALTEK/index2.shtml
and try Asus V3-M2A690G Realtek ALC883 Audio Driver V5.10.0.5345

Thank you so much for your help.  I do appreciate it.  I will try to see if I can make it work and let you know once I've figured it out.  Again, thank you for all your help.You're welcome
