Answer» Hi comda here,
I have a mac G3 and the other day i tried to boot it it started and while starting it froze. I tried to turn it on a few times after that i got a message to resart my computer by holding down the restart button. Then it does the same thing after i restart it, it freezes!?
Any help or suggestions will be useful The computer components:
400MHz proccesor 512 mg RAM cd rom 80 Gb hard drive Hmm... I would place MONEY on the idea that your hard drive is starting to go out on you. Is it making an weird noises, such as clicking, or a grinding?no no i can here it turn on but then i can't here it no more it's as if if shuts downcomda, Is the screen you're seeing that SAYS to restart a gray one that doesn't let you move your mouse or do anything?
If so, that's called a kernal panic.
I would highly recommend using your mac os x install disc (or classic install disc if you are on that) and try using disk utility to repair your hard drive.whats the disk utility and YES that screen has come up and i mentioned that earlier.Do you have a mac OS install disc?
If so, is it a classic disc (9.2 or earlier) or a os X disc (10.0 or later)
If it's an OS X disc, just boot from the cd/dvd by holding down "c" when you boot and then go to utilities at the top menu, and choose "disk utility."
From there you can click on your hard drive on the left then click repair disk in the bottom right.
