Solve : Master drive illegal in LA.?

Answer» Master drive illegal in LA.

If you work for the city or county of Los Angeles you are not allowed to refer to a hard drive as a master or a slave. This decision was made back in 2003, but this is the first time I came ACROSS it. Did you  not realize that we are politically wrong when referring to my hard drives as master and slave?
The document has this title, "Identification of a equipment sold to LA County".

This is a copyrighted article I'm reading, so I'm not allowed to quote verbatim. What it says, in effect, Los Angeles County will promote a work situation that does not have any discrimination at all. And this will even apply to the vendors and contractors who sell electronic equipment to the county. They are not allowed to refer to a computer hard drive as a master or slave device.

If you would like to read the entire article, I have placed a LINK below:

My question. Is this still enforced in LA? Have we offended anybody in LA? Is this forum off-limits for LA county workers?

I can understand that but it is still pretty funny. ^.^

It's just like saying you can't call a human a human, you must refer to them as mammals. ^.^That's just plain stupid.  I notice they didn't offer any alternative terms.Honestly I think changing the names would just add to the confusion since this has been around since the beginning of computers with multiple drives. It would also help if they suggested a new standard in place of Master/Slave -- best I could come up with would be Primary/Secondary.It would be interesting to contact some one in the LA County IT department and find out how they really refer to hard drives tied together. What the ****!

What are we going to do? Hurt the hard drives feelings?

And SERIOUSLY? I don't see how a black/negro could possibly be offended when a hard drive is referred to using these terms. what's next? We can no longer use the colour "black", or the word "colour"... I mean, for christ's sake... they're just words. It's the context that would make them OFFENSIVE. and generally if somebody puts them in a offensive context they almost certainly are doing so on purpose. It would be like outlawing the word "face" because it is so veritable as an offensive vehicle when prefixed with undesirable words.

So that's the real reason hard drives crash.Obviously a law CREATED by whitey.

Fight the power.

EDIT:  For the record, the use of these terms is not illegal in any way.  It is merely frowned upon by the county.
