My Mom got an emal a few days ago from "[emailprotected]" (I think) saying that a security update for all Microsoft OS's has been released. A file was attached called "KB..." something or other...

Just to check and see if it was a VIRUS, I clicked on the attachment. Without the dialog "Run, Save, Cancel, etc." coming up, AVAST popped up saying that it stopped a virus entering the system.

Just to let everyone KNOW...Microsoft will NEVER contact you or ANYONE else about security updates...NEVER

Please let her know and pass it on to as many people as you can.

You should have her visit our Virus and Spyware section and follow the instructions at the top of the page as she is most likely infected ! !Exatly Windows will tell you, if there are.hmm, it's kind of ironic that you would fall for such a trick- given you posted this.
