Solve : motherboard measurements?

i have a used case that i got from a computer store that is in very good shape but gutted of the motherboard drives fans power supply.how would i find out what size motherboard to put in there and whta size power suppy i would need for it .would like to put a pentium 3 or 4 or a amd 64 in the case but need to know the motherboard size to order how do i do this.please let me know some thing on this.

Do you know what form factor your case is ...... then just be sure the MOBO will fit that form factor .......for example ATX

i don't quite know since this area is new to me and it will take time for me to FIQURE it out. i appreciate the help and if anymore information is around i would appreciate the info.trying to teach an old a new trick is risky but i hope it will pay off for me in the end the knowledge i gain will be emence.the site is on my favorite aleady .

bmacgurkCheck to see if the MAINBOARD has the following:


  • 90 degrees rotated connector ports (PS/2, COM, LPT-1)
  • 20 or 24 pin power connector


If you answered yes to both, it is safe to assume your mainboard is of ATX formfactor.

Consulting the manual will ELIMINATE all doubt, ofcourse.Hopefully it is an ATX and not an AT case. That would be problematic these days.
