Okay, I have this IBM ThinkPad from a few years ago. Last year it started acting up, but I had it repaired EARLIER this year.

Now, I'm having problems with it again.

Whenever I start it up, it runs fine, and after the "Windows XP" logo with the little status bar, the screen simply turns black, giving no ACCESS to anything.

The only things STILL working is the backlight-adjustment and the overhead mini-light and the cursor arrow is still visible, but not functional.

Everytime I try to restart it, I get the same thing. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON, OR BETTER YET, KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS?!?!?! Try booting in Safe Mode by tapping F8 repeatedly whilst the machine is booting and select Safe Mode from the menu.
Does it boot up correctly in Safe mode?
Did you make any changes or did anything happen before this issue started?I've tried it in safe mode. The only difference is on the black screen, it says "SAFE MODE" in the corners and at the very top, it has a bunch of technical nonsense.

Thanks anyway.HAs gone to a blue screen at all?If possible, try plugging in an external monitor and see if you can view your desktop on that. From there, you can try updating the video drivers from lenovo's website, or using system restore.Nope, the external monitor thing didn't work... It looks like on-board video is shot.
