Thermal compound applied properly ? ?
All MBoard standoffs in place ? ?
New or used PSU ? ?I didnt add any extra thermal compound to the cpu. there was all ready some on it. (that is the only plac I know to put any)

THe psu is brand new.

MB standoffs- what EXACTLY are you referring too? I know a lot but not all the terms.

Thanks. yes. i actually left two out because it felt it was pulling down to hard. the rest are in the proper spots. i used silver screws with the back thread so they would not spin out. Release all the torque on that board...it shouldn't be that tight...and replace the 2 you left out...Quote from: stalesweetness on March 31, 2011, 07:10:29 PM

There's a standoff in there in the wrong position. Remove it. It's shorting out the motherboard.ok so loosen the tork and take which out? i have them in the holes that line up underneath. How to Install a Motherboardi forgot to use screw nuts under the motherboard and only used screws. the only difference is that mine dos not have a removable metal plate under the motherboard.

I am correct- screw nuts under the motherboard and screws through the top to give it the space. that would give me 5 screws to ho;d the board down.Screw nuts are also called standoffs, 1 for every metalized hole in the motherboard, which should have 6.got ya. i just took the motherboard out and put in the 6 standoffs. now i am putting the motherboard back and will screw it in. that worked. i tried to turn it on twice and it didnt.....now it worked with adding the standoffs. did i screw up the motherboard or the couple times wont matter. The psu is designed to shutdown in the event of a short circuit. Just like a circuit breaker in your house & for the same reason, don't want to START a fire.
