Answer» Ended up unable to pass up on this deal. A Dell Inspiron 3558 with 2.1GHz Intel Core i3-5015U processor, 4GB of memory, integrated Intel HD 4400 Graphics, and 1TB HDD. This will replace my ASUS X401A laptop running just a Celeron M1000 1.8Ghz with 4GB RAM, integrated Intel HD 2500 Graphics and 320GB HDD.
Got this Dell normally priced at $349.99 at $299.99 on sale and used a $25 gift card that I found when cleaning from a christmas or birthday that went missing to get it for $274.99. Waiting now for it to come up to room temp before powering it on. Then create the recovery media for it first thing after setting up user account etc.
I guess I will be running Windows 10 on it since it comes with it and I dont have any Windows 7 licenses available for it. I still PREFER Windows 7 more, but this laptop will be perfect for the lightweight games and web surfing that i do, as well as now I can DIG deeper into playing with 10 to support it better.
What sold me on this laptop was the fact that I am able to get a brand new Core i3 laptop for under $300 and its Dell which I trust, as well as they didnt skimp on its build as most low cost laptops are feature stripped. Surprisingly it has a DVD-RW drive, 1TB HDD ( *5400rpm however ), number pad to right of keyboard, and its not the slowest Core i3 out there, its a 2.1Ghz with 3MB L2 Cache and ok integrated graphics for LOWER end gaming without problems.
I had money set off to the side for Black Friday to get a newer laptop, and this was too good to pass up and I saved $100 from my $400 budget on a replacement, $125 if you include the $25 gift card that someone else paid for.
Daughter wanted a laptop so I will give her the ASUS with Celeron M1000 1.8Ghz dual-core after I know that this Dell is solid, bug free with Windows 10.
