Solve : no Audio in browsers and some applications (but not all)?

Answer» FIREFOX and Safari will not play audio, neither will the one game I have installed on my computer (Diamond Detective ... its a crappy 2D puzzle game). itunes and alerts sounds work.

iMac OSX 10.4.11

tried uninstall, REINSTALL the browsers and plugins with no LUCK. (I THOUGHT it could be a flash PROBLEM, but apparently not)

can anybody help me please!?
