Solve : No startup at all?

Answer»

I have a problem:  I have replaced most of the parts on a Gateway solo 5300 including the HD, motherboard, and heatsink fan and still have nothing.  It has power to the HD now and the light comes on for one SECOND and then goes off.  The heat sink fan is running and when the CD-ROM is in it tries to run, but nothing comes on the screen.  I have not formatted the HD yet and when left out the computer does the same thing, nothing.  It ran fine until I had a low voltage surge in my home and then it quit.  Any suggestions are welcome.  Thanks! What exactly did you replace?

The surge may have damaged your mainboar and/or processor. Did you replace those?

If you replaced EITHER of those, did you check to see if the cables are connected properly?I replaced the motherboard, HD, and heat sink.  This is a laptop so there aren't any cable to check besides the internal wiring and I did that.  I did not replace the processor. You'll have to wait for a member to come online who has GOT experience with laptops. I have nay.replace the hard drive....re-boot hit the f1/2....bios..check the settings to default...did you check the jumper settings on the mobo>and did you take of the cmos battery? Quote

Sounds LIKE the Voltage REGULATOR board.
