Solve : Odd sounds coming from speakers?

Answer»

Ok.. i am a little confused here and i want to share, becuase i don't know what the *censored* it is ..
to start off with i turned the computer on and straight away heard talking.. followed by some random beeping noises.. then talking again and a bit of music ( the talking sounded like a foreign radio chat station. which is quite weird in itself becuase i don't know even if there are any!)
anyway, i went to volume control on control panel, muted "Line in" odd sounds stopped.. thought no more of it.. came here to check the forums.
and i swear i then heard someone say "the one" or something like that which was quiet loud.

the beeping noise is still going on right now if i un-mute Line in.. but the Line in is connected to my guitar FX pedals which is not switched on.. nor does it have anything plugged into it.
.. beeping has slowed now.. but still it sucks, 'bip.. bip.. bip..' sounds like a life support machine. which is going to GET annoying real soon..

WTH???You may be picking up spurious signals from a local radio station, perhaps an amateur radio fan has moved into your locality. If the problem persists I suggest you contact the nearest amateur radio club, I'm sure you will find that the members will do their utmost to assist even if it's not the responsibility of any licensed station.

A possible cause for the "bip" is a dodgy earth on an electric fence (a major problem if you live in a rural area).

You don't give details of your setup, are your speakers external/internal and self powered? Have you tried unplugging the line-in from your sound CARD.

this explains it.

i have taking classes on electronics(resistors, capacitators, Ohms law, etc.) the STRINGS on your guitar are acting as a antenna. which picks up carrier waves(radio waves) from radio stations. and the FX pedals are being the tuner which tunes to different radio stations or even some machines(the life support machine) so your guitar is picking up this stuff which is being feed into the sound card on your computer which AMPLIFIES it and sends it out to your speakers. you now have accendiently made a radio. my suggestion is to unplug the PLUG from your guitar that goes into your sound card. that should stop it.
