Solve : OE errors and memory space?

Answer»

I have hp pavillion first problem.   i get wierd errors and it locks up for no reason. says there is no memory when there is plenty.  I get no help from HP so please support me.  Thank you.  One problem could be that you don't have an Operating System (at least not one you MENTIONED).

What kind of memory are you talking about?  Hard drive space or ram.

If you mean ram, are you sure your it is working properly?

Have you checked for viruses or spy/adware that could be taking up your system resources?

Maybe you could LET us know what some of your 'wierd' errors are and what you're doing when it locks up.operating system is win 98.

it says not enough memory, close the systems that are running. but i don't know what is running.

How do you know if Ram is working?

I tried to scan a pic and the pc just shut down.
also I get messages of errors from the OE it says it will shut down and to close any open windows., but nothing is opened.
I hope i helped you to help me..
thank you

All that helps yes..

What's an OE?

What resolution did you try scanning?  If it's too large the system will crap out.  Does this happen after a reboot and no scanning (in other words.. if you reboot and just do normal stuff, does it CONTINUE to happen)

Try going into your system settings (control panel - system) what's it say you have for ram?

Is this an old PC?I thought Outlook Express. but I don't know..

pics on low scan. cuz i was just transfering it to desktop.

yes it craps out doing normal stuff also.  just getting started and it will send me an error.

I can't find system settings.  which is wierd because i have it on my upstairs computer but I can't find it on this one.

no, the pc was purchased brand new in 2000 AD.

thanks for helping me by the way.

I thought Outlook Express. but I don't know

Ahh.. I should have figured that was what you meant.

Have you checked for viruses and spy/adware?  Some of these buggers can take up valuable system resources.

If you go to Start - Settings - Control Panel - System should be in there.

2000 AD.

Good thing you pointed out the AD.  I was thinking you were on an abacus or something from the BC era http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;199340Patti.. Perhaps....you could let us known a bit more about your system......the TYPE of processor and amount of Ram ........We know it's WIN98 .
As Joleen has said , if you are using a scanner , the resolution is set too high and your system cant handle it.
I havent quite figured out how Outlook Express factors into the problem .......But then I live in the BC area .......LOL
You should find you sysem info in the control panel.
What type of Anti virus software are you using?

let us know
