Answer» I just got an old laptop with no os installed. I am trying to load an os, however the pc doesn't recognize the CD drive. I can only get ms dos to come up. Can SOMEONE please help me?What are the system specs (processor speed, RAM installed, ect.)? You probably need to set the BOOT order in the BIOS.I really could not tell you any specs except for it is a compaq armada 1550. when i turn it on it shows 81920kb ok. it does have an intel pentium prcessor, but guessing it's not dual! In fact I can't even get into the bios at startup Which version of Windows are you attempting to INSTALL?I am attempting win2k.Do you still have the manual for the laptop? It should have instructions on it on how to access the BIOS.
