Solve : Old Stuff Question?

Answer»

Hi, New to this forum But need to know some info about some old stuff. I have an IBM 7006-42T Unix box that does not have the KEYBOARD with it. It has a post CODE at boot-up of 262 which is a keyboard not CONNECTED or detected type failure. I have several keyboards with the PS/2 mini din connector, however, none of them are IBM keyboards. Does anyone know what I need to do to get a keyboard to be recognized at post? Also, I have a Compaq/Key Tronic E78722/LR69497 keyboard that has dip switches on the bottom side. Is there a setting that I could select to make this keyboard work with the IBM box?
Thanks - JimHave you Googled??? Looks like tons of info on the IBM 7006-42T, too much for me to browse thru' but you might want to have a look

Good luck...Yes, Actually for many hours. I think that what I really need is to "bite-the-bullet" and just buy a used IBM 6010,6600 or 6326(?)!
Thanks for the reply though.
Doyou ever have any Computer shows in your area ? ? A great place to pick up older stuff...

patio. Yes, They USUALLY happen the same TIME that the "Gun & Knife" show comes to town. We have some really good flea-markets that come up with Old Stuff. I also like to check the salvage yard at work, that is where I got my two sun sparkstations and my friend got this T42 risc box, however, his wife threw away the keyboard and lpfkeypad and cables .
Thanks for the reply.Best of Luck to you in your hunt...
