Solve : Opinion Question on what Netbook to Purchase?

Answer»

So I've been in the market for a NETBOOK for a while. I already have a fairly good desktop so I wasn't worried about getting something with too much power. The harddrive was a concern for me though, since I didn't want a TINY 8gig ONE and have to worry about SD cards and such.

So, recently I saw these two for $300. I think I would be willing to drop the money on one of these but I wanted to know everyone else's opinions. The Wind has a bigger screen (which would be nice) and a SLIGHTLY larger harddrive. The HP is more compact and has bluetooth.

So what do you guys think? As a side note, I was also thinking about just minimizing the Windows partition and setting it up so the majority of the drive is a *nix partition. Do you think that something like Ubuntu would run better than XP?

Edit: I suppose I should provide links

Depending upon the amount of memory, you probably would want to stick with XP.

And depending upon your needs, if you really need bluetooth or do you need 40GB more HD space.

Just in my opinion I would go with the Wind, a bit faster on processor and a more reliable brand of Processor(Intel) and larger Hard Drive, the bluetooth wouldn't be neccessary, plus it has an extra USB port.

Both have the same type of RAM and amount so no comment there.

Hope this Helps

More reliable that what???Better known, higher quality than this: VIA C7-M 1.2GHz ULV processorOh, wow! I didn't know VIA was producing CPU's.
Now I understand why you made that comment!!I'm fine with sticking with XP...I'm not too well versed in terminal anyway.

I was already leaning towards the MSI, if only because it has a bigger screen. I'm so used to having a nice big display on my desktop I wasn't sure if I'd be able to adjust to a tiny 8.9" screen (I realize that 10" isn't too much bigger but every little bit, right?).

Anybody have any other opinions? Maybe similar models that I haven't noticed? The MSI seemed to be a pretty good all around deal.
