Answer» Do a Google on: Optimize WINDOWS for BETTER performance And find lots of advice. But some of it is now out of date. From MICROSOFT: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/15055/windows-7-optimize-windows-better-performance Above is for Windows 7 and is better good for any Windows system.
Now for Windows 10 see this: http://www.pcworld.com/article/3030200/windows/how-to-make-windows-10-faster-5-ways-to-speed-up-your-pc.html Or this: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/26120-optimize-performance-windows-10-a.html
I see that they put things in different order. Some say check for malware first. Well, of course, that is a given. But others say you need to look at start up programs that want to reside in memory.
And they still say fragmentation is important. But if you have SSD it does not matter anymore.

These are maybe valid if you are experiencing performance issues or running on outdated HARDWARE however I've never performed any sort of "optimizations" on any of my Windows machines and they all run fine! With PERHAPS one exception, these recommendations have been valid for every version of Windows since 3.1. Nothing new here.
