Solve : Outlook 2000 problem importing address book?

Answer»

So I just installed Outlook 2000 and I'm trying to bring in my address book from Mozilla.  I've tried saving it as both a .csv file and a .txt file.  I go to file/import and export/import from ANOTHER file or program/choose the .scv or .txt options and follow the wizard.  I GET to the page where it says "the following actions will be performed" and my file is shown.  the "next" button cannot be pressed so it won't actually to the importing.  Anyone have any ideas?Did you try EXPORTING from Mozilla?  This might help: How to Export Contacts from the Mozilla Thunderbird or Netscape Address BookThat is exactly what I did.  I exported the address book from Thunderbird.  I tried exporting into both .csv format and .txt format.  The problem is that once I choose the file, Outlook won't let me finish the Import.Just to verify you've got a valid CSV file, try opening it in Excel.  Does it open?  Do you see data there that reflects your address book?Yup, all the data is there.  It allows me to choose the file, but at the last step, where I'd have to click on next to actually import it, I can't actually click on the next button. Here's an excerpt from a Microsoft page, TITLED How to TROUBLESHOOT address importing in Outlook 2000:

I can't import my Comma Separated Values text file into Outlook

Source of the problem
You exported or saved your contacts from another program as a Comma Separated Values (.csv) text file, and when you import it into Outlook, you don't see the INDIVIDUAL fields listed in the Map Custom Fields dialog box. Instead, all the imported fields are in a single row, separated by small box characters. Even in a text file, formatting can be not quite readable by the importing program, but that's a problem you can fix. If you open the text file in Microsoft Excel, the Text Import Wizard reformats the file so that Outlook can read it. You can then use Excel to save the file, in either Comma Separated Values or Tab Separated Values format, and import that file into Outlook.
How to fix it
First, open the text file in Microsoft Excel. Next, save the file in Excel as a text file type. Finally, import the resaved file into Outlook.
1. Open the text file in Excel: a.  In Excel, on the File menu, click Open.
b.  Navigate to the text file and click Open.
c.  If the Text Import Wizard opens, click Finish.

2. Resave the file as a text file type: a.  In Excel, on the File menu, click Save As.
b.  In the Save As Type box, click Text (Tab Delimited) (.txt), and then click Save. If you're asked whether you want to keep this format, click Yes.
c.  Close the text file and quit Excel.

3. Now, import the resaved text file into Outlook.

Try that and see whether it solves the problem. Thanks, but I've already tried that.Try importing it into Outlook Express, just to see if it works.
