Solve : OUTLOOK EXPRESS6 help needed?

Answer»

New here...(where do you click to start new threads BTW?). Need help with OE6 which is operating veerry slowly. I close out and it takes a long time to close. I have compacted all folders and no, I haven't installed IE7, I like version 6.Keep in mind, I have 13,000 and some emails in my in box and don't want to delete them as I use my address for business purposes. Can you help? Or tell where on this board to go? And, where do you click to start a new thread? Normally that button is very visible . . . please helpYou click "Start New Topic", the button Above "Replies" and "Views". I've taken the liberty of splitting your post into a new thread.Updating Internet Explorer to version 7 has no effect on Outlook Express.  You would still have Outlook Express 6; Microsoft did not include an upgrade of Outlook Express with Internet Explorer 7.

You're getting an awful lot of mail accumulated in Outlook Express, more than it's really designed to handle.  But, you MIGHT see some improvement by creating folders in Outlook Express for mail from certain senders and MOVING a lot of mail out of your Inbox and into these other folders.  Why in the world are you holding so many messages in your Inbox?

But, you should really be looking at Outlook or some other email client to handle such a high volume of mail.  Outlook is not free.  You might also look at Thunderbird, which is free.  I have not used it but I've seen numerous favorable comments about it.  Still, I'm not sure it's designed for this volume of mail, either.  Outlook might be your best bet.
