Solve : problem with site icons?

Some sites I visit have icons that I can't access. When I hit them, a small rectangle appears in the left-hand corner of the page that READS JAVASCRIPT://#LookUp and nothing else happens. I thought maybe I needed java script, which I deleted a long time ago because it was a pain, but I installed it to no AVAIL. Is anyone able to help me with this?I SUSPECT you are confusing Java with javascript.  You don't install javascript.
