I had Earthlink dial up and went to Verizon DLS. I uninstalled Earthlink but an accelerator FILE will not delete (which Ive tried and the files are "being used by another program"). So when I do connect to the internet I get several earthlink messages that I have to cancel to get onto the internet. I can browse and do ANYTHING on the internet as well as down LOAD programs. I have downloaded Napster, Epocrates, Google Earth, some games for my son. But, When I open the files and try to use them, they need to connect to the internet and are unable to. I get error messages, I have disabled my firewire to see if that helps but I do not know what is going on. PLEASE HELP!!!!Try removing the offending file in safemode...

Someone please help.You need to read up on the Verizon documentation and double-check if it's setup properly.If the Accelerator came with your Earthlink dial-up, you may want to contact them for removal instructions as well...then follow patio's advice.
