Answer» Thank you evilfantasy for the info in this. I had been trying to REMOVE some malware w/trend_micro's stuff w/o any success. The other PLACE worked just fine and now I have my "windows task manager" back and the desktop is normal again. Keep up the GOOD WORK Welcome to CH. You should post the HijackThis log. There is USUALLY more to do, lack of symptoms isn't always an indication the malware is actually gone.
