However, your player should show up in Finder (the mac EQUIVALENT to windows explorer) where you can drag and drop the music to the player.I thought so. Haven't used a mac very much since the time when you had to choose between finder or multifinder!

it won't come up in iTunes, as unfortunately, iTunes is made to work only with iPods.
