Solve : TV to Computer? |
Answer» Hello, I'm wondering if there is a method to watch your TV from your computer. I have Cable connected and i also have my house with a LAN. I have a computer upstairs and would like to be able to watch TV. Any ideas? What you want TAKES more equipment. The cost may be more that the cost of a TV receiver. A few years ago TV tuners were made for Computers. But these are not compatible with newer cable services. The DTV (an abbreviation of digital television, also called digital broadcast) transition in the United States is the switchover from analog (the traditional method of transmitting television signals) to exclusively digital broadcasting of free over-the-air television programming. The transition from analog to digital television has been described by David Rehr, then president and CEO of the National Association of Broadcasters, as representing "the most significant advancement of television technology since color TV was INTRODUCED."[1] For full-power TV stations, the transition went into effect on Friday, June 12, 2009, with stations ending regular programming on their analog signals no later than 11:59 pm local time that day.[2]But in a number of areas standard analog TV was still the main stay. After awgukem these exceptions went off the air. The TV tuners used for PCs a few years ago were analog, not digital. Thus the devices were made worthless by the new standard. A analog tuner card in the PC set to say Channel 3 paired with a cable box which would take a digital stream and output a analog output over coax or RCA cables is the only way I can see it working ..."legally speaking". I tried this out and it worked well on a Toshiba Qosmio CORE Duo 1.83Ghz that came with a TV Tuner Card built into it about 2 years ago before I gutted the laptop for useful parts for other healthier computers when the GeForce 7300 Go GPU started to die on board causing lines to slowly appear and everntually get worse as it heated up. Laptop was this one here that was given to me by a coworker whos wife upgraded to a better laptop for graphic arts. It was a nice free laptop until the GPU started to die. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834114207just connect with cable its very easy. |
