Answer» I have two motherboards that are ok except the onboard serial ports are 'toast'. As I need at least one to work for a POINT of sale application for the cash drawer, I am trying to add an external i-o card to the motherboard with no luck. I have tried with the on-board ports enabled and disabled and have tried various COMBINATIONS of com port and irq combinations. The system (Windows 98 se) will recognize the new port, but programatially nothing gets thru to the port. If I remove the i-o card and try the program, an error occurs opening the port. With the i-o card in place, no error, but no data thru the port either. HELP..... any ideas?
