Solve : Using TV as Monitor...?

Answer»

Alright I am getting a new computer and im going to be using a TV as a monitor, I will be using for most FPS GAMES. So could you guys tell me if this would be a good TV for that type of usage...

22" HD LCD TV From Element..

• Aspect ratio: 16:10
• Resolution: 1680 x 1050
• Brightness: 400 cd/m2
• Contrast ratio: 700:1
• Response time: 5 ms
• Viewing angle: 160 x 170

Just putting information that will be needed.

Computer I will be using for this:

XPS 420
Intel Core2 Duo PROCESSOR (3.0GHz)
3GB RAM
-512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT-

Just a quick FYI:
TV's are not necessarily meant to be for monitors, and it may be hard to read text on the TV screen. I had this issue on my TV with an S-Video cable connection, its extremely difficult to read text. Rendered images (those in a game) should be fine.

Take a LOOK into the different output types of your computer, and the different cables your TV will support. Alright thank you..check to see if the tv has a dvi or vga input. http://www.elementelectronics.com/pages/products/flx_2210.asp

Inputs/Outputs:
• HDMI input
• VGA (D-sub) input
• Component video input (YPbPr)
• S-video input
• Composite video input
• RF antenna input
• 2 audio inputs
• VGA audio input
• Composite audio output
• Headphone jackQuote

• Resolution: 1680 x 1050
Very nice.

I'm little bit disappointed, it doesn't have DVI input.Quote from: Broni on January 07, 2008, 11:37:40 PM

I've never noticed any difference between vga and dvi inputs... In my opinion, there isn't enough of a difference to matter. At work, I have one lcd plugged into the dvi and the other into vga and there is no degradation in quality whatsoever.
And besides, you can almost always convert dvi into vga if necessary.
